Jimmy Neesham deletes his tweet on MS Dhoni’s controversial run out in the IPL final
He had put up a photo after MS Dhoni's run out in the IPL 2019 final.
After a quick succession of wickets during Chennai Super Kings’ chase of 150 runs in the IPL 2019 final against Mumbai Indians, the onus was on captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni to stabilise the innings. Dhoni who is usually a very good judge while calling for a quick single or pushing for doubles and more blipped on the night. Running an overthrow, he was at the receiving end as Ishan Kishan hit the stumps directly. It was a close call and the decision went against Dhoni. Following that among the many reactions that emerged on social media one was from Jimmy Neesham.
Dhoni had to walk back to the dugout after facing only eight deliveries for 2 runs. They didn’t have specialized batsmen out there when it really mattered and they lost the final by one run. A lot of fans didn’t think that was out as in their perception, the CSK skipper had safely crossed the return crease.
Neesham in his tweet trolled MSD fans as he wrote: “I love how passionate some fans are about our sport. I have huge respect for MS but how anyone could see the below photo and say it’s not out truly astounds me.” Attached was a different side to the run out angle, which, unlikely several other angles, showed that Dhoni was out.
The fans in their response put up other angles which showed that MS was inside the line at the time of the LED lights went off. While one fan reminded Jimmy of how he himself had been ran out by Dhoni, others posted pictures of the side angle which proved Dhoni was not out.
Here are some of the fan tweets:
Neesham deleted the tweet:
There were innumerable tweets and such response forced Neesham to take it down and he put up another tweet to mention that. “I’ve deleted my tweet about MS Dhoni’s runout, not because I’ve changed my mind, but because: 1. I’m sick of seeing the same dumb comments in my feed 200 times a day. 2. I just don’t actually care. Please don’t bother tweeting me about it again. Have a good day everyone.”
