Jofra Archer grabbed the headlines after making a mark in the Big Bash League (BBL) while playing for Hobart Hurricanes this season. The brilliant performance also bagged him a huge deal in the IPL auction where Rajasthan Royals bagged him for a whopping amount of Rs 7.2 Crore. But the cricketer will have to wait until 2022 to play for England as he is originally from West Indies. However, Archer is not worried about his international career and is ready to wait until 2022.

Barbados-born fast bowler decided to move to England after he was not happy with his native cricket board. Despite his father being British, he was not eligible to play for England right away due to the strict rules in the country. In England, one needs to complete seven-years of residency period in order to be eligible to play for the country. Even ECB would be wanting to pick him after he scalped 61 wickets while playing for Sussex in the last County Championship season.

I was angry with West Indies

Jofra Archer cleared that he wasn’t happy with West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and decided to play for England. Also, with the money he is earning by playing in the T20 leagues around the world, the youngster doesn’t mind waiting a fair bit to get the taste of International cricket. “I was angry with the West Indies, so that helped me with my decision to come and try to play for England. I can play in the T20 competitions and in county cricket until the time comes,” Archer was quoted as saying by thetimes.co.uk.

Archer was not happy with the fact that he was not selected for the 2014 edition of the U19 Cricket World Cup and that is why he decided to move to England. “I wasn’t selected, so I had to think about what to do next. Once I knew it was an option, it was an easy decision to move to England,” he added. The 22-year-old is keen on playing for England in future and will not return to West Indies ever.
