Jofra Archer responds to a fan who advised him to concentrate on picking a five-wicket haul at Lord’s
Archer will replace Anderson in England playing XI.
England’s World Cup sensation Jofra Archer is set to make his debut in the Tests as well in the second Ashes Test against Australia at Lord’s. He will replace James Anderson in the line-up who has been ruled out of the game due to injury. Anderson bowled only four overs in the series opener before walking off the field and never came back. Subsequently, he was ruled out of the second Test as well and is hoping to contribute in the last three Tests.
However, this comes as a huge opportunity for Archer to leave his mark in the whites as well. He didn’t play the first Test due to the side injury and had to prove his fitness to be included in the 12-man squad for the second game. Archer played for Sussex’s second XI and he went on to pick a six-wicket haul. To add to it, the Caribbean born cricketer also scored a ton with the bat.
Jofra Archer will be making his debut at the historic Lord’s and it is quite natural that he is excited ahead of the game. Moreover, he wished to get on to the Lord’s honours board in his debut game in a tweet on Twitter. “Would love to get on the honours board,” Archer tweeted.
Concentrate on doing it then
Soon after Jofra Archer tweeted about his wish, one of the fans responded advising him to concentrate on achieving his dream. The fan also went on to say that his tweet would look silly if he ends up picking only a solitary wicket in the Test match. “Just concentrate on doing it then…this tweet is going to look a little silly if you if you go for 1/175!” the fan’s tweet read.
Jofra Archer responded, “Cheers,” to the fan’s tweet in a way accepting the challenge and will now be chuffed about making a telling impact in the most important game for England. The hosts are currently 0-1 down in the series and will have to make a comeback to keep any hopes of regaining the Ashes alive. The second Ashes Test is set to commence on August 14.
