Australian pacer John Hastings was playing for the English county championship side Worcestershire when he injured his left foot. He was called back home after sustaining the injury to be assessed, as the Aussies have a tough road ahead. They will be facing the currently unstoppable bunch of boys led by Virat Kohli in India for 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is next month.

The Indian team is currently enjoying their time in Sri Lanka, where after the Test series they will now play 8 limited overs matches. The next assignment they have in hand is not going to be as easy as the Lankan lions were. The Kangaroos are a tough nut to crack and the Men in Blue know it well. Their pace attack is one to be worried about, comprising the likes Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Hastings.

The last name on the list may not be the fastest, but he a cunning game-changer and the secret weapon for the team. Hence the Kangaroos wanted the 31-year-old to be fit ahead of the crucial series against India. Hastings is confident of getting fit ahead of the series which will commence from 17th September.

“I’m in a moon boot for a couple weeks and then I’ll reload and hopefully be all right for the domestic one-day cup and that one-day series (in India),” stated the bowler from New South Wales while speaking to the official website of Cricket Australia (CA).

Describing more about the injury, the owner of 50 international wickets said: “I had a bit of pain in my left ankle for a little while and I thought I should get it checked out. Obviously there’s a big summer coming up and a one-day tour to India so I wanted to make sure I’d be cherry ripe, but I ended up with a hot spot in my foot.”

Not the first time!

This is not the first time Hasting has suffered an injury as the bowler dealt with this part of the game often in past. Last year, he suffered a major injury in his knee while playing for Victoria in the Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania.
