The ongoing Test match between South Africa and Australia would mostly be known for the controversies which sparked on the third day, so much so that they have overshadowed some stupendous cricket on display by oppositions. Barring the shameful incidents, the Test match in Cape Town has been a delight to watch. On the second day, Morne Morkel notched his 300th wicket in Test cricket when he nipped out the wicket of Shaun Marsh in Australia’s first innings.
Most recently, Nathan Lyon also entered the record books and became the sixth Australian bowler to garner 300 Test wickets. Subsequently, he became the sixth Australian bowler after Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, Dennis Lillee, Mitchell Johnson and Brett Lee to accomplish the magnificent feat. The off-spinner nipped out the wicket of Kagiso Rabada for the milestone when the left-handed batsman danced down the track, and subsequently missed the ball only to be stumped by Tim Paine.
Following his achievement, he has been congratulated by Mitchell Johnson, the former Australian fast bowler. Johnson, himself, has 313 wickets in Test cricket and had been a strike bowler for the Aussies for several years.
Here’s the congratulatory message from Johnson

Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh, the sidelined Indian spinner, has also dropped a congratulatory message for the Australian spinner. Harbhajan had been India’s fulcrum in all formats of the game, however, the emergence of the spinners like Ravichandran Ashwin and others have dragged him out of contention.
Here’s Bhajji’s tweet for Lyon
Congratulations @NathLyon421 #300 test wickets.. keep spinning ? https://t.co/upWbCPYWro

The current Test has been a witness to a horrendous crime involving Cameron Bancroft and Steve Smith. Bancroft was seen hiding a sharp object into his underpants, which was caught on camera. During the press conference after the day’s play, Smith admitted to having been involved in the shameful act and subsequently, had to step down from the role of captaincy in the ongoing Test.
