Watch: Jono Dean broke his bat in the Big Bash League: Jono Dean the Adelaide Strikers batsman during a game against the Horbat Hurricanes broke his bat into two. The batsman was batting well and looked set to take Adelaide through to the target of 136 the Hurricanes had set them. During his knock of 54* which he scored form just 34 balls, there was a moment when he was pushing all his energy behind the shots.

In the high action BBL we have seen the balls fly all around the park this season and on most occasions the batsmen have led teams to victory. Though this time round as well the story continues but in this particular game along with the ball we also saw the bat go into the air. The batting team secured and maintained the advantage throughout but the bowler Timm would have surely enjoyed a moral victory here, being proud of the delivery that he bowled which eventually broke the bat of Strikers batsman Jono.

The chase was on the track even after losing a wicket as they had 68 runs on the board for the loss of one wicket and required 69 runs to win from 74 deliveries. On the forth delivery of the seventh over from the strike bowler Timm van der Gugten, Dean went too hard at the ball trying to get it past the covers fielder and the impact of the ball cracked the bat into two. The broken lower half flew off the base, the batsmen ran for a single as the deep point fielder gathered the ball. The Strikers were in a commanding position and Dean had a major hand in it. Though this happened early into his innings when he came in to bat at number 3.

Jono changed his bat and there on batted extremely well even post the incident to guide his team past the target. There was no change in the way he approached his innings. His innings of 54 composed of six sixes.

In just his fifth Big Bash game, Jono Dean has been impressive and slowing becoming an integral part of the Adelaide Strikers batting line-up.
