Jonty Rhodes' message for Suresh Raina is winning the internet
Earlier, even Amir had backed Raina to do well in South Africa.
The three-match T20 series between India and South Africa is all set to commence on February 18 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. The visitors have named a few format specialists for the series who left for the country on Thursday. The likes of Suresh Raina, Jaydev Unadkat and KL Rahul are the ones who will join the team ahead of the sixth and final ODI in Centurion. However, the former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes had a wonderful for Raina which has won the hearts of the Indian fans.
The 31-year-old left hander was recalled to the national squad after almost a year following his exploits with the bat in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament for Uttar Pradesh. He last played for India against England in the same format in January last year. Raina has already cleared that he is eyeing the spot in the Indian ODI team ahead of the WOrld Cup in 2019 in England.
Rhodes apologises to Raina
Suresh Raina was ecstatic about travelling to South Africa for the three-match rubber and posted a message on Twitter and Instagram with his teammates after reaching Dubai. He was excited to get started by donning India jersey after a long time. His message for his followers read, “En route Joburg. can’t wait to get started.” It seems that Jonty Rhodes was also at the airport in Dubai and felt like he missed out to meet the cricketer.
Soon after realising the same he replied to his message and apologised while also wishing him all the luck for the upcoming T20 International series. Rhodes’ reply for Raina read, “Sorry I missed u at Dubai airport , my brother; am sitting on @emirates flight to Cape Town! Back yourself and have fun; just rewards for all your hard work!”
Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir had also wished Raina on the same tweet which also earned a lot of praises from the Indian fans.
