Jos Buttler is in the form of his life in the ongoing IPL 2022. He has already registered three centuries this season with two of them coming back to back against the Kolkata Knight Riders and the northern rivals Delhi Capitals respectively. Opening the innings for Rajasthan Royals, Buttler has so far played an outstanding role by laying a solid foundation for the side.
As the Englishman continues to have a dream run in the tournament, he has given a special mention to former Pakistan cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed who is the reason behind him going through a purple patch this year. According to Jos, it is Mushtaq who helped him in turning his weaknesses into his strengths.
How did Mushtaq Ahmed’s advice help Jos Buttler?
“Mushtaq Ahmed always told me to hit on the off-side first and then come around to the leg-side. If you are looking only on the leg-side, you will never hit the ball on the off-side,” said Jos Buttler as quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan. The 31-year-old has amassed 491 runs averaging 81.83 from seven matches and has played a crucial role in ensuring that the Rajasthan Royals are in the top three at the moment.
The 2008 champions currently occupy the third position in the IPL 2022 points table with five wins from seven matches with 10 points to their tally at a net run rate of +0.432. At the same time, Jos Buttler is also comfortably placed on top of the Orange Cap list. Should Buttler score another century, he would equal Virat Kohli’s feat of four tons in a single edition of the tournament.
The explosive opener would now be hoping to successfully breach the three-figure mark for a third straight time when RR face the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their next encounter at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on April 26. The Royals would be looking forward to avenging their reverse fixture loss against RCB.
