Jos Buttler joins BPL for a massive amount
The English wicketkeeper will play for Comilla Victorians.
England wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler, who has signed for Comilla Victorians for the fifth edition of Bangladesh Premier League, is expected to be paid 2 crore taka in the tournament, which sums up to 200,000 British pounds. It has been reported that Buttler was supposed to play a global tournament but he changed his mind after getting a lucrative offer from the BPL.
The hard-hitter also represented Mumbai Indians in IPL. He has played 185 T20 matches so far. In 165 innings, he has aggregated 3712 runs at a strike rate of 147.53 including 21 fifties. In the T20 Internationals, he scored 984 runs in 56 matches (48 innings) with five half-centuries at 139.77. The charismatic middle-order has been in good form for his side Lancashire in the NatWest T20 Blast 2017. He scored three fifties so far with the highest score of 80*.
Apart from Buttler, English players such as Dawid Malan, Liam Dawson, Chris Jordan have signed for Sylhet Surma Sixers. Luke Wright will be playing for Rajshahi Kings. England seamer Liam Plunkett is reportedly looking out for a BPL franchise. The BPL 2017 will start from November 2 with Dhaka Dynamites taking on Sylhet.
On the other hand, Morgan, and Jason Roy already signed up as marquee players for the South African league. Alex Hales and Mark Wood too have put their names forward for the draft despite being expected to be present in the Ashes, which will be starting in November. Whether England releases their cricketers for domestic cricket in Bangladesh will once again depend on the security measures.
Last year the Professional Cricketers Association advised its members against taking part in the BPL on the basis that it would not have the same level of security measures as for an international tour. Buttler, Willey and Plunkett are centrally contracted players and would need approval from Andrew Strauss, the director of England cricket, as well as their counties.
