England is up against Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series currently in which they have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead. One T20I is left in the series and it would be followed by three-match ODI series. However, the English side have been dealt with a massive blow as their ace batter Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the final T20I match owing to a calf tear.

It has been reported that Buttler will be able to ply his trade in the upcoming ODI series as well. In the same light, England’s ace batter Dawid Malan has been added to their side in the 50-over squad. Talking about the T20I series so far, England are marching up by a 2-0 lead (series win) as they won the second game by five wickets owing to the DLS method.

Liam Livingstone who played fine innings of 29 runs was declared as the player of the match in the 2nd T20I. Buttler was already not part of the last T20I the hosts played against the Island nation. However, he played the 1st game and played a stunning inning of 68 runs. He was declared as the player of the match eventually. Morgan was quite happy with his men after the series win.

Dawid Malan to play as Jos Buttler’s replacement in ODI series

“Our bowling was right on point, both batting sides struggled to take aggressive options which is a shame, but it ended up being a tight game. Took risks and lost wickets, which is disappointing, but Liam showed the class he’s shown for Lancashire and Sam for Kent. Juggling DLS, and being challenged by the Sri Lanka bowlers.

“DLS crept upon us, it was clear all morning. We were thankful we managed to reduce Sri Lanka so that it didn’t jump up on us. Two big areas for us is fielding, you play on smaller grounds with high value on boundaries – out, or dropped catch and six – and our death bowling away from home is an area to improve on,” stated Morgan after winning the series 2-0.

The next T20I of the series is all set to take place on June 26, Saturday.
