Watch: Josh Lalor takes unbelievable catch in BBL 2015: Josh Lalor stunned the crowd at the Sydney Showground stadium with a breath-taking piece of fielding during the Big Bash League match between Sydney Thunders and Melbourne Stars.
Sydney Thunder had made a paltry 107 runs batting first in the match. When Stars came into bat, they lost Wright in the second over of the match, but Captain Cameron White and former England player Kevin Pietersen started to rebuild the innings and march towards victory.
Sydney Captain Hartley decided to introduce spin in form of Nathan Hauritz. Hauritz struck on the last ball of his first over when White swept him towards deep midwicket for a six. Lalor who was stationed there, jumped high into the air to catch the ball but the momentum took him over the ropes. He threw the ball in the air before his feet touch the ground beyond the boundary and caught it again when he safely came back in to the playing field.
Later the ICC had to add a rule validating such catches after similar incidences that took place in various matches. Nowadays you can see fielders doing the same thing to complete the catch in a safe manner. One such famous catch was taken by Chris Lynn while playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous IPL in Dubai. He fell during taking position to catch the ball, but leapt up to complete the catch in a safe manner.
