Justice Lodha committee passes the verdict- CSK, RR banned for 2 years from the IPL: The Justice Lodha committee formed by the Supreme Court of India to determine the punishments for the acquainted IPL team management members from CSK and RR has pronounced the decision to ban former CSK team Principal Gurunath Meiyappan for life from any involvement with the game of cricket. A similar ban has been determined for RR team owner Raj Kundra who was also found guilty of betting while in the position of an IPL team owner.
The two teams Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been banned from taking part in the IPL for 2 years. Justice Lodha said in a press conference.

Justice Lodha said:
On Gurunath Meiyappan
- The fact that Meiyappan was integral part of CSK,he ought not to have indulged in corrupt practices.
- Any person who has true passion for the game will never be involved in betting.
- He is found guilty of betting, his conduct affected image of BCCI, the league and the game.
- He is suspended for life from involvement in any type of cricket matches.
- If Meiyappan’s reputation is tarnished, it is small compared to the damage done to cricket.
On Raj Kundra
- Rajasthan Royals have damaged faith of BCCI and the sport, Mr. Raj Kundra found guilty of misconduct.
- Raj Kundra was placing bets through a known punter, was constantly in touch with bookies.
- Declared ineligible from taking part in cricket for 5 years, suspended for life from being involved with BCCI.
- Raj Kundra acted contrary to the spirit of the game.
On the fate of CSK
- No action was taken by India Cements against Mr. Meiyappan.
- Propose to impose sanctions on India Cement’s franchise by suspending it from the league for 2 years.
- Chennai Super Kings suspended for 2 years.
On the fate of RR
- Jaipur IPL team can’t shrink responsibility by saying Mr. Kundra acted in personal capacity.
- It’s true that Mr. Kundra relinquished his shares from Rajasthan Royals in March, but it was too late.
- Propose to suspend Jaipur IPL team from the league for 2 years-Justice Lodha
IPL COO Sunder Raman whose involvement has been under scrutiny as well continues to remain under the eyes of law, while no punishment has been announced for him, he isn’t let off or given a clean chit.
