Kagiso Rabada gains big in latest ICC Test Player Rankings after excellent show against England
Kagiso Rabada scalped a total of seven wickets during the first Test match against England.
South Africa star pacer Kagiso Rabada has gained big in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s player rankings after his excellent show against England during the first Test match played at Lord’s, London. The right-arm pacer scalped a total of seven wickets in the match, including a five-wicket haul.
Rabada’s excellent performance with the ball ensured that the visitors won the first Test comfortably and maintain their lead in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table. Rabada also jumped two places to claim the third spot in the latest Test bowler rankings.
Not only Rabada but his teammate Anrich Nortje also scalped a total of six wickets against the Three Lions and hence jumped 14 places to reach the 25th rank. Australian skipper Pat Cummins and Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin are placed first and second respectively in the Test bowler rankings. South Africa skipper Dean Elgar has also jumped one place to reach the 13th rank in Test batters rankings.
Talking about the white-ball format, Pakistan may have beaten the Netherlands in the three-match ODI series, but opener Imam-ul-Haq’s poor show in the series meant that he loses his second place in the ODI batter rankings. The left-handed batter could only manage to score two and six runs in the two matches that he played. As a result, he has now slipped to the fourth spot.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam is comfortably placed No. 1 spot with the South African duo of Rassie van der Dussen (789) and Quinton de Kock (784) placed second and third respectively. Meanwhile, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, who had a decent outing against West Indies recently, has reached the 11th spot in the ODI batter rankings.
Sikandar Raza and Shubman Gill performed exceedingly well in the ODI series between Zimbabwe and India and were duly rewarded. While Raza reached the 25th spot, Gill made a long leap of 93 places and he now finds himself in the 38th spot in the ODI rankings.
