Kagiso Rabada has a rude send off for Shikhar Dhawan in Port Elizabeth

Team India had history in mind when they stepped on the field in Port Elizabeth for the fifth ODI of the ongoing series against South Africa. A win for the visitors would mean a historic series win. The way Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan started off things, it looked like they were well on course. Perhaps it was this reason why Kagiso Rabada had such a wild send off for Dhawan when he dismissed him in the match.

Whether the send off costs Kagiso Rabada dearly or not, remains to be seen. For now, there are quite a lot of people talking about the incident. Coming to the incident, the action perspired in the 8th over. On the third delivery of the over, Rabada bowled yet another short ball to Dhawan. The southpaw looked a little uncomfortable as the ball climbed up on to his body.

However, Dhawan went ahead with the shot. He flat batted the delivery in his shot and the ball went sailing to the deep square leg boundary. Andile Phehlukwayo, who was precisely placed at the position, for such a shot, took a good catch to complete the dismissal. It was perhaps poor shot selection from Shikhar Dhawan considering the fact that there were two fielders place on the leg side boundary.

As soon as the ball went in air, Kagiso Rabada looked anxious and hoped for the catch to be taken. The moment Phehlukwayo pocketed the catch, Rabada erupted in joy. He shouted ‘bye’ at Shikhar Dhawan and even gestured the same. He even pointed at the pavilion to complete his sendoff for the Indian opener.

Well, by the look of things, the send off certainly does look a little rude. In the recent times, the ICC has been very particular about the code of conduct of the players. Hence, if the match referee reprimands Rabada or hands him demerit points, it will not be a big surprise. Interestingly, Rabada is known for carrying his heart on his sleeve. He gets emotional about his game. He was suspended for his actions last year as well during the South Africa tour of England.
