Kamlesh Nagarkoti impresses one and all with his ability to bowl FAST

The above quote by the fast-bowling great, Wasim Akram has proved to be a universal fact. Though only a fast bowler would understand the true essence. Being able to consistently bowl quick is a very rare attribute among Indian pacers. In the first match of the U19 World Cup 2018, 18-year-old Kamlesh Nagarkoti sent shivers down the spines of Australian batsman with his raw pace.

The youngster from Rajasthan has bowled consistently over 140 kmph. He also clicked over 145 kmph on several occasions posing some serious trouble to the Aussie batters. For a change, the players from down under were hurried for pace by an Indian

Hits 149 kmph

Indian cricket has always craved for a fast bowler who consistently clocks speeds of over 145 kmph. And, for a teenager to achieve this feat is absolutely incredible. Kamlesh made the batsmen dance around the pitch with his pace picking up three wickets in the game.

What is more surreal is that he clocked the top speed of 149 kmph which was a treat to watch. The third ball he bowled in the game was at 145.3 kmph and that is some serious pace, he bettered it and touched 146, the same over he also surged on to 147 the batsman tried to undercut the ball but was clearly beaten by pace.

Beaten for pace was the most common term we heard while the youngster bowled at the Aussies. The 35th over of the Australian inning in particular was the one where he was in deep 140s throughout. 143, 145, 145 and the last at 144 got him the wicket of Austin Waugh.

He dismissed another popular name from the opposition line-up this time it was CA chief James Sutherland’s son Will who missed a full delivery that was on the off-stump. Once again pace aided Nagarkoti as the wicket ball was at 145. The intent he put on display was heartening to see and he bowled his heart out to put the Kangaroos on the backfoot. He also has a beautiful slower ball which was bowled at about 120 clicks. He concluded the game with figures of 7-1-29-3.

Having put up a huge total of 328 runs, the effort was backed by the Indian pacers who were up for it right through. The Aussies lost the match by 100 runs.
