Kane Williamson and David Warner reveal their favourite batsmen from the past and present era
Williamson also credited Kallis and said he was like three players in one.
The world continues to be under lockdown and there is pretty much nothing that sports fans have left to do. However, the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise planned to have a special show for Instagram users. Captain David Warner has started a new show on their official Instagram page named– Warner’s corner.
He invited Kane Williamson to join for a chat and during their conversation, the former asked a lot of questions to the New Zealand skipper. Rather both of them went on to pick their favourite batsmen from the present and past era. While the Aussie opener picked Jacques Kallis as his favourite from the past and the Kiwi captain named the players like Rahul Dravid, Ricky Ponting and Kumar Sangakkara as his favourites.
“For me, it would be Jacques Kallis. He has one of the best batting records and he has taken 300 wickets and has over 200 catches as well. It’s an incredible feat,” Warner said. “It’s pretty hard to say one name. Kumar Sangakkara would be one. Ricky Ponting, Rahul Dravid.. goodness me, we can talk about it all night.
“So many greats of the game. It’s so difficult to say one name. I think if you look at guys who make it look quite easy.. yourself (Warner) and the players like AB. But Jacques Kallis really was (like) three players, wasn’t he? Incredible,” Kane Williamson added.
During the conversation, Warner asked Williamson to pick the best player in the world currently. To this, the Kiwi skipper said that it would be hard to take one name, but AB de Villiers would be his pick, even though he is not playing international cricket right now.
“It’s very hard to pinpoint on one. Someone like AB — I know he only plays franchise cricket now, but in terms of gifted players, he is right up there. And a top guy as well. He’s one of the special players of our time. But (there are) so many quality players,” Williamson said.
Virat Kohli has set the bar so high: Kane Williamson
Williamson then went on to praise Virat Kohli‘s ability to bat in all three formats. “Kohli, in all formats, has a real hunger to dominate. He is so good to watch and play against, and to learn as well. He has set the bar so high”, Williamson added.
David Warner then picked Williamson, Steve Smith and Virat Kohli as the best batters according to him. He also said that he would have all three bat for his life. “I would have you (Williamson), Smithy (Steve Smith) and Virat to bat for my life,” said the Australian opener.
