Kane Williamson comes in support of David Warner on Ball-tampering saga

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson came in full support of his fellow teammate at Sunrisers Hyderabad, David Warner by insisting that the explosive batsman isn’t a bad person. Warner came into limelight for all unwanted reasons when he was finally known to be the mastermind behind the Ball-tampering incident in Capetown. After CA’s probe into the matter, it was revealed that it was Warner who convinced the skipper and Cameron Bancroft to alter the condition of the ball.

As a result, Warner has been banned for twelve months by the Australian board after breaching their code of conduct under Article 2.3.5. To add on the bearings, ASICS, the shoe manufacturer also ended their sponsorship with the 31-year old. But the Kiwi captain, while preparing for the next Test against England, spoke on the series of unlikely events that unfolded in a way going against the spirit of the game.

He’s not a bad person by any means: Williamson

As per Williamson, he thinks the matter has been blown out of proportion considering that the players have admitted their mistakes and they feel pity for what they have committed on the field. Having got the opportunity to work with the senior Australian player in IPL, Kane defended his deeds as he mentions, “He’s not a bad person by any means.” This has been much evident as both the gentlemen share a nice camaraderie in IPL as Kane despite not being in the playing XI at several occasions has been seen giving his insights to Warner from the sidelines.

“It will blow over in time, but it’s grown and grown and, like I say, he’s not a bad guy. He’s made a mistake and certainly admitted that and they are disappointed with that action. Through what’s eventuated in recent times, there’s been a lot of emotion and energy pointed at certain players which have gone to extreme lengths, “Williamson was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

The Kiwi skipper reckons this as the tough time for the Aussies and hopes them to move on after serving their punishment of 12 months. Though, it was much disgraceful to see two such senior players opting the ways that have let down the world cricket. “But it is a shame that two fantastic, world-class players have made a mistake, “he added.
