Kane Williamson is one of the Fab Four of the current cricketing generation. There is no doubt that the other three players, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith and Joe Root, are classy players for their respective countries and are completely different when it comes to the shot-making with the willow. In a recent interaction, the New Zealand skipper became candid and revealed the shots he would want to borrow from the other three cricketers.

While Smith is currently serving a ban, Williamson and Kohli are literally fighting it out for the top spot in the ICC Test rankings. The Kiwi captain was instrumental in New Zealand‘s historic series win over Pakistan in the UAE recently while his Indian counterpart has been amassing runs away from home in the longest format of the game on a consistent basis proving that he is the best batsman in the world at the moment.

Those three are world-class players

In an interview with ESPNCricinfo, Kane Williamson was all praise of the other three players of the Fab Four and all are effective in their ways for their teams. He loved the way Root plays reverse sweeps against the spinners while Kane was impressed with Smith’s ability to smack the ball through the mid-wicket region with utmost precision. He had special words for Kohli though saying that all of his shots will be nice to have.

“Those three are all world-class players and all very different players. One of the most attractive things is that they are all different players, but very very effective. For Joe Root, I like how he reverse slaps bowlers. From Kohli, most of his shots would be nice to have. And Steve Smith, I like the way he hits the ball through the mid-wicket from any position,” Williamson said.

Williamson is currently involved in the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka and will be in the action during the Boxing Day Test starting on December 26.
