Just stating Virat Kohli has been in exceptional form would be an understatement. Hence, former Indian captain, Kapil Dev decided to compare him with the greatest of all time cricketers. He did not hold back when he compared the Indian skipper to the greatest batsman of any era; Sir Donald Bradman.
Sir Don has records that merely can be touched but when it comes to dominating the opposition like he did and playing with that augustness then he can be compared to some of the cricketers here. And Kapil Dev thinks the same. “We all have heard stories about Don Bradman, the records that he has and how well he used to bat. But when people say that ‘Had the Don played in this era, he would have been very much like Virat,’ one can veryVirat well imagine how great Don would have been.” He was quoted as saying by India Today.
Virat has scored four double centuries in the last four Test series he has played. That achievement says it all about the player and why he is termed the best in the world right now. The Indian World Cup winning captain touched upon the same and was not shy praising Kohli. He added, “You can’t expect a player to score 10 double centuries in 10 matches but scoring four double tons in 8-10 matches is incredible.”
However, the Indian legend thinks that Virat has a triple century in him and he missed out on the opportunity against the tame Bangladeshis. But he feels that Virat can achieve this feat against the not-so-mighty Aussies. “I still feel he could have scored a triple century against Bangladesh in Hyderabad because he has it in him to go past that milestone. Hopefully, we will see that against Australia,” Kapil said.

Virat recently said that England is a better opposition as a team than Australia. Many would disagree but if we currently look at the squads then it might turn out to be true. However, the ex-Indian all-rounder thinks the other away round. He thinks that Australia would give a tough challenge to India in the upcoming series. Stating that three of the four venues are new and the pitches would be unpredictable.
Kapil said: “I personally feel Australia will be a bigger challenge, but I don’t think Virat feels that way. I hope Virat is right and I am wrong. I believe this team has more strength to dominate the bowlers but it also depends on the pitches. Three of these venues – Pune, Ranchi and Dharamsala – will host a Test match for the first time. So we don’t know how the pitches will behave.”
When he was asked about Virat’s history with the Australians, he said the 28-year-old came on top in 2014. “They have had their answer once in 2014. They sledged him and Virat responded with four centuries in four Tests. Sometimes, sledging helps some players and that’s how Virat is. So, I doubt if they will do it against Virat,” Kapil Dev explained.
