Kapil Dev, the former Indian cricketer, has recently named the ‘Kapil XI’, a team formed with some of the greatest cricketers Team India have ever produced. In his eleven, he picked MS Dhoni and went on to say that his spot is ‘untouchable’. Dhoni remains to be the only captain to have won all three ICC limited-overs trophies for the Men in Blue while serving his nation for 15 years.
Dhoni, along with Kapil, is one of the two captains to have won India the 50-overs World Cup. Apart from Dhoni, Dev also named Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar in his star-studded eleven.
As his specialist spinners, Kapil went for Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble. To partner the tweakers, he selected Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan and Jasprit Bumrah in the pace department.
Kapil, the 1983 World Cup-winning skipper, put forth his eleven during a chat show, No Filter with Neha, hosted by popular Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia.
Jasprit Bumrah has done extremely well, says Kapil Dev
“There’s a test match is different, there’s a one-day cricket is different. ODI…if I have to pick, I would say definitely Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli, will be there, Rahul Dravid will be there, Yuvraj will be there,” Kapil was quoted as saying on the show No Filter with Neha.
“Wicket Keeper is only Dhoni. Nobody can touch his spot. You have Zaheer Khan, you have Srinath. Recently Bumrah, I can say. He’s done extremely well. Anil Kumble, all-time great spinner, and Harbhajan. These are the cricketers who come to my mind very much there,” he added.

A far as Dhoni is concerned, he last played for India in the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. Back on August 15, he hung his boots from international cricket. Nevertheless, he took part for the Chennai Super Kings in the 2020 Indian Premier League. The 39-year-old also confirmed his participation in the 2021 edition of the T20 tournament.
