Karun Nair forayed into international cricket with an awe-inspiring triple century on his Test debut against England at Mohali. However, he has flattered to deceive thereafter and subsequently lost his place in the side. He was a part of the Delhi Daredevils squad for the tenth season of the Indian Premier League, however, he couldn’t make a mark in the domestic league either.

Nevertheless, the cricketer has lately been impressive for Karnataka in the domestic circuit. He has recently been appointed as the skipper of the Karnataka team in the upcoming Deodhar Trophy which will be staged at Dharamshala from March 4 to 9. Nair will replace R. Vinay Kumar as the captain who is yet to recover from the elbow injury he suffered during the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Nair’s rich vein of form

Nair has shown stupendous form in the recently Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 league. He blazed away to a swashbuckling knock of 100 runs off 52 balls against Jharkhand, which included eight boundaries and seven blows into the stands. Nair has also scored a brilliant hundred against Odisha in the Vijay Hazare event. He led the Karnataka team in Vinay Kumar’s absence and led them to glory in the One Day tournament.

Nair has also been bagged for INR 5.60 crores by the Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 auction of the Indian Premier League. The cricketer would be looking forward to string some impressive performances in the Deodhar Trophy, which is likely to keep him in good stead ahead of the cash-rich IPL. Meanwhile, the cricketer would also wish to stake a claim back in the Indian team riding on his impressive touch with the willow.
