Katrina Kaif in line to play role of Kapil Dev's wife in upcoming biopic

In the recent times, the biopics centered around the life of the sportspersons have caught the attention of the Bollywood fans. The latest entrant in the list is the proposed movie based on the glory of the Indian cricket team in the 1983 Cricket World Cup. The movie, which will see the role of Kapil Dev in the pivotal role, is set to hit the box office some time next year.

Recently, the reports had suggested that Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has been shortlisted to play the role of Kapil Dev in the movie. The makers of the movie had reportedly looked at other options too before finalizing on Ranveer Singh. Some reports had suggested that the makers had considered the actors Arjun Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan for the role as well.

Now, as per the recent reports in ANI News, the actress leading in the race to play the role of Kapil Dev’s wife in the movie is Katrina Kaif. The movie will be directed by Kabir Khan. Kabir Khan is apparently in favor of signing Katrina for the movie. Also, the actress herself has reportedly shown interest in playing the central character in the movie.

Kabir Khan’s association with Katrina

Romi Dev, wife of Kapil Dev, has been a key part of the journey that the cricketer endured during his playing days and thereafter. Hence, the role is being seen as a central character. A source mentioned that two actresses have been shortlisted thus far. It seems that Katrina could take the cake away eventually. Katrina and Kabir have previously collaborated for films like ‘New York’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Phantom’.

“So far, Kabir has not locked the lead actress. Two other actresses have been finalised, one is a newcomer and another has been suggested by Ranveer,” a source quoted. If Katrina is finalized for the movie, this will be the first movie where she will be paired up with Ranveer Singh.
