Kedar Jadhav was once again at the centre stage, this time with the bat for the first time, and he didn’t disappoint the Indian fans. Having retired hurt in the middle of an enticing chase, the right-handed batsman came back to score the winning runs when it mattered the most in a thrilling final of the Asia Cup. While he batted and ran in extreme pain throughout his innings, it seems that Jadhav will once again be ruled out of the action for the next few weeks.
There was a lot of action during the chase in the Indian camp. After Dinesh Karthik’s wicket, Jadhav arrived and he stitched a decent stand with the set MS Dhoni. But while taking a quick single, he pulled his hamstring and was unable to run singles since then. The dressing room wanted him to come back but he denied and insisted on playing which increased the dot balls. The pressure got to Dhoni and he lost his wicket which added more anxiety to the game.
Eventually, Jadhav went back for a treatment and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravindra Jadeja took India close to the winning target. But both of them fell with the team still needing 11 runs. However, the hero of CSK’s first victory in the IPL earlier this year found himself in a similar situation again and he walked out to bat only to return with the Asia Cup title for his country.
Grade I or II tear
After the victory, there was jubilation in one camp and Kedar Jadhav was called for an interview where he expressed his delight over the victory and also informed about his injury. “I’ve been in this situation a few months back. Knew field will be up in the end and will be easy to take one or two. The way Kuldeep batted gave me confidence too. I’m still a batsman who can bowl. It’s at least Grade I or II tear. Let’s see tomorrow,” he said.
Many felt that Jadhav’s injury had reappeared which he sustained during the IPL a few months ago. However, according to Cricbuzz, this time it is his other leg which has troubled the cricketer. Soon, an official update on his injury is expected to come and India’s man with the golden arm might have to sit out for a few more weeks now.
