Virat Kohli’s struggles with the bat have been a hot topic in the media, and his continued failure in the ongoing series against England didn’t do any favors either. A huge commotion on social media erupted when Pakistan’s all-format skipper Babar Azam came in support of the former Indian skipper on Friday, and now the Indian stalwart has replied in kind.

The stylish Indian batter received support from his skipper Rohit Sharma, who backed his place in the team after another failure with the bat in the second ODI against England, as India succumbed to an unexpected defeat. The 33-year-old has struggled for runs in the ongoing white-ball series against England following his disappointing outing in the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston against the same opposition.

Pakistan’s skipper Babar, who is often compared to Kohli due to his elegant batting style and incredible run-scoring abilities, posted a tweet supporting Kohli in his tough time. “This too shall pass. Stay strong,” Babar had tweeted. The Indian cricketer replied to him on July 16, thanking him for his support. “Thank you. Keep shining and rising. Wish you all the best,” wrote Kohli.

Virat Kohli rested for West Indies series

Kohli had suffered a minor groin injury and was not a part of the ODI series opener against England, but he was deemed fit for the second ODI. He will be playing the series finale on Sunday (July 17) at Old Trafford in Manchester. Kohli is not part of the T20I or ODI squad travelling to West Indies along with a few other first-choice players who have been rested to manage their workload.

Meanwhile, Babar is currently leading the Pakistan Test team in a two-match series against hosts Sri Lanka. Pakistan were trailing by 198 runs after the end of the first day’s play in the opening Test, with the score being 24/2 and the skipper at the crease.
