Kevin Pietersen is arguably the best batter to have played the game for England at the highest level. While he was known for his delightful strokeplay on the 22 yards, ‘KP’ was also known to give it back, be it playing mind games with spin legend Shane Warne or confronting in-form pacer Mitchell Johnson during the 2006/07 and 2013/14 editions of the Ashes series respectively

Recently, Pietersen recalled his rivalry with veteran all-rounder and his good friend Yuvraj Singh. While the South African-born cricketer has not mentioned anything about their verbal volleys in case there were any but, he did reveal how Yuvraj had frustrated him not with his thunderous batting but with the ball in hand. Pietersen had also called Yuvraj as pie-chucker referring to his left-arm spin bowling.

“Playing against Yuvraj Singh was always an issue. Left-arm spin was always an issue. But when Yuvraj came on I thought this is the opportunity to score. Then he started knocking me over. Then I started to get a bit frustrated but my favorite shot against Yuvraj was the forward defensive block. That defensive shot, you can get past this pie-chucker”, said Pietersen in a video released by the Legends League Cricket on their official Twitter handle.

At the same time, the cricketer-turned-broadcaster also revealed the reason behind calling Yuvraj a ‘pie-chucker’. Giving further clarification on the same, he said that he wanted to prove to the world that the two-time World Cup winner was just an ordinary bowler after the latter had dismissed him on a couple of occasions.

“I called Yuvraj a pie-chucker purely based on the fact that he knocked me over a couple of times and I didn’t want to tell the rest of the world that he was any good. He is that rubbish provider you play with. You think I am bigger than the other player and try and force yourself on the opposition and he comes back at you”, he said.

Kevin Pietersen is currently participating in the ongoing edition of the Legends League Cricket 2022 where he is representing the World Giants. Pace icon Brett Lee helped the World Giants in pulling off a sensational win by three wickets during their last game against India Maharajas on Thursday. Pietersen will be seen in action when the World Giants take on Asia Lions in the final at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman on Saturday.
