The ongoing edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is nearing the business end. The T20 league has now been hit with two of the bowlers being reported for suspect action. Kevon Cooper and Arafat Sunny have been found having suspect bowling actions in the tournament.

Arafat Sunny is plying his trade with the Rangpur Riders this season. Kevon Cooper, the West Indies all-rounder, is with the Khulna Titans franchise. Both teams have done reasonably well in the tournament. However, with the knockouts coming close, both teams will be severely dented if the bowlers are banned from bowling.

Arafat Sunny recently led the Rangpur Riders in their match with the Dhaka Dynamites. He bowled in the match. It was the previous encounter of the Riders when Arafat Sunny was found to bowl with suspect action. Bowling in the 19th over of the match against Rajshahi Kings on November 28, Sunny’s action seemed suspicious to the umpires.

Kevon Cooper has been reportedly seen with suspect bowling action in the tournament. The video footages of his bowling action has been sent to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). The chairman of the technical committee of the BPL, Jalal Yunus, confirmed the news. “Sunny was reported once, in their last game (on November 28). The next step would be for the BCB’s bowling action review committee to analyse video footage of the delivery, which we will do soon after the end of the tournament. We have sent Cooper’s footage to the WICB,” he quoted.

Yunus further exclaimed that they will ensure that such cases are analyzed during the tournament itself. Moreover, they will keep a track of players having suspect action and try not to have them in the tournament.

He strictly remarked, “In the next BPL, we hope to do the video analysis of suspected bowling action during the tournament itself,” Yunus said. “We will also have to be aware of foreign players who has been reported previously, so that we can inform our franchises beforehand. We don’t want to have such bowlers in future tournaments.”

Interestingly, this is not the first time that these two players have been reported for suspect action. Sunny was banned from bowling by the ICC recently along with teammate Taskin Ahmed. He was later cleared to bowled a couple of months ago. Kevon Cooper has had his problems with suspect bowling action too. During the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Super League, Kevon Cooper was reported for his bowling action.
