West Indies all-rounder Kevon Cooper better known for his T20 exploits in leagues around the world is a part of the Lahore Qalandars team in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). Cooper was today served a warning for bowling with a suspected action in a PSL match. On-field umpires reported his action after the second match on Tuesday between Lahore and Quetta Gladiators.

A PSL media release which didn’t have precise clarification of the deliveries that the umpires felt weren’t legitimate stated that he continues to be eligible to bowl in the tournament. However, if his bowling action is reported again, he will be suspended from bowling any further in the PSL. With this, Cooper also became the first bowler to be reported in the tournament which is just into its inaugural season.

The PSL release stated: “Mr. Cooper has now been placed on the warning list and may continue to be selected to play and bowl for his team in a PSL match,”

“Under the PSL Suspected Illegal Bowling Action policy, if a player is reported while on the warning list, the player shall be suspended from bowling for the remainder of the PSL tournament and from bowling in any matches organized by the PCB until such date as he is cleared or upon conclusion of any ineligibility period.”

Cooper has thus far played 6 matches in the league and picked up as many wickets bowling with an economy of 9.23. In the game following which he was reported, he bowled 4 overs for 37 runs and returned with just a wicket.

Another notable aspect is that this is the third time that the West Indian has been served a warning. He has already been under the scanner being reported first in the CPL in 2011 and then in the 7th season of the IPL in 2014.
