Kieron Pollard hails Rahul Dravid impact on youngsters
Rahul Dravid has had a major impact on youngsters ever since hanging up the gloves in 2012. Since then, Dravid has served in a plethora of roles with the BCCI starting from consultant all the way up to head coach. His most recent achievement was coaching the current U19 side to the final of the U19 World Cup in Bangladesh earlier this year.
Kieron Pollard, one of the most important batsmen in the Mumbai Indians’ ranks has come out full of praise for the former Indian batsman. The next assignment as far as Pollard is concerned is against the Delhi Daredevils, a franchise that Dravid serves as the mentor. Pollard said that Dravid is a terrific person to handle young teams and young talent.
“In Rajasthan also there was a young team and if you look at the person working behind the scenes, Rahul Dravid has done a magnificent job with youngsters throughout India and they all are gravitating towards him.
Pollard also added that the youngsters in Delhi are also performing well, especially given the fact that they beat the Royal Challengers in Bangalore for the first time in almost five years.
“Even in Delhi, youngsters are performing. They went and beat Bangalore in Bangalore. He has confidence in the youngsters and there is no better thing than going and performing there.”
The West Indies all-rounder added that chasing a total was easier said than done.
“Even though you know how much to get, you still have to get those runs. Then wickets will fall and you will go on the back foot and you have to change your game. But whether you chase well or bat first, you have to bat properly. In any ground when you go, you know what is the par score.”
“If you give your hundred per cent and execute your plans and lose, I would accept that other team played better cricket. But if we can’t execute [our plans], then we have to look at the faults.”
