The tussle between the Windies cricketers and the cricket board is an open secret. Several cricketers have come out in the open the slammed the board members for not lending support to the players when they required them the most. They even boycotted their tour of India mid-way for which they had to pay a hefty compensation for the losses incurred by the Indian board.
However, most recently, the Cricket West Indies (CWI), zeroed in on an agreement which saw prominent names like Chris Gayle returning to the ODI side, which recently participated in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, players like Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell chose to play in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL).
“I am happy”- Kieron Pollard
Meanwhile, Pollard, who is currently playing for the Mumbai Indians, is pretty satisfied with his career and said the Indian Premier League (IPL) as his major focus for the time being. “I am actually happy in my life. Whatever opportunity I get to play I am happy. Now I am focussing on the IPL at the present time and after that, there are a couple of international series.” he was quoted as saying by Reuters.
Kieron Pollard has played T20 Internationals for the Windies when they toured England earlier in 2017. Nevertheless, he has been out of the ODI team for the last one and half years. “I am still very much part of the West Indies international Twenty20 squad. The 50-over cricket is still a bit up in the air as to what they (CWI) are thinking. That is a question you need to ask them” he added.
The Trinidadian congratulated the national team for qualifying for the Cricket World Cup next year at England and Wales. Barring Afghanistan, the team was undefeated against all other nations. If they are to compete against the top teams in the mega event, they would need the likes of Pollard in the squad.
