Kings XI Punjab opts Dharamsala as second home
The Kings XI Punjab have opted Dharamsala as their alternate home venue for three matches. Kings XI Punjab were expected to play 3 out of their 7 home matches at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur. The remaining 4 were scheduled to be held at the IS Bindra Stadium at Mohali.
However, the prevalent water scarcity and drought situations in Maharashtra, and the subsequent ruling out of all matches after April 30 out of Maharastra by Bombay High Court, had forced Kings XI to consider an alternate venue.
The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) agreed to host the 3 shifted games for the Kings XI Punjab. Kings XI Punjab will now face Delhi Daredevils on May 7, Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 9 and Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 15 at Dharamsala.
In an official statement by the Kings XI, the franchise thanked the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA for their support. “We are happy to announce that Kings XI Punjab will be playing our three home games in Dharamshala,” the statement said. “We are grateful and thankful to the HPCA for their support in helping us make this transition seamless at such short notice.”
The other two teams affected by the shifting of the matches out of Maharashtra were Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants. While Mumbai Indians will shift their base from Mumbai to Jaipur for their home games in May, Rising Pune Supergiants opted for Vizag as their alternate home venue for their home matches to be played in May.
