After breaking into the Pakistan national side, Mohammad Amir grabbed every eyeball with his pace and swing. He was regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in international cricket. Amir was touted to carry forward the legacy of Pakistan’s legendary pace bowling force.
However, Amir’s career took an ugly turn after being involved in a spot-fixing scandal where it was alleged that the pacer bowled deliberate no-balls. Amir had to face its repercussions as he was handed a five-year ban by the ICC. He pleaded guilty and was even sentenced to six months in prison.
After his ban, Amir retaliated and bounced back on the international stage and since then, he has been a vital part of the national side. Despite bidding adieu to the Test format, Amir’s brilliance in limited-overs format fails to diminish.
Amir’s exemplary record proves his worth as the left-arm quick has grabbed 119, 81 and 59 wickets in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs and 48 T20Is respectively. However, years after the incident, Amir still faces the hatred of many fans. He has been ridiculed many a time for his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal.
Recently, Steve Smith, in an Instagram Q&A session, revealed that Mohammad Amir is the most skilful bowler he has faced in his career. Contradicting Smith’s praise for the pacer, a Twitter user said that Amir is the most corrupt and bad-hearted person in the world.
“I am his Hater, kisi ne opinion de diya is se great nahi ho jayega, Most currupted, Bad Hearted person in the World,” tweeted a user on Twitter.
