The friendship ‘Master Blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar and the current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly- both on and off the field- is well documented. For the Indian cricket fans of the 1990s and 2000s, watching Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly walking out to bat in limited-overs cricketers was a sight to behold.
Between 1996-2007, the duo enthralled the cricketing folklore with their consistent performances as a pair. On the 136 occasions that the duo batted together, Ganguly and Tendulkar racked up 6609 runs at an average of 49.32 with the help of 23 half-centuries and 21 century stands– a record which still stands to the day.
Post their respective retirements, the duo have come together on various public platforms and have even commentated together during the 2015 and 2019 World Cup. Even on social media, both Sachin and Sourav can be seen engaging in hilarious banters. And, we saw that again on Thursday. Tendulkar is currently enjoying his vacation in Australia and the Master Blaster posted a picture of himself from Southbank Australia which he captioned as- “soaking in the sun.”

Ganguly, who is busy performing duties of the BCCI President proceeded to echo the emotions of nearly all of us who are so desperate for a vacation. Ganguly commented: “Kisi kisi ka kismat acha hai .. chuttii manate raho (some people have great luck, keep enjoying your holidays),” Tendulkar went to reply that it was a fruitful vacation as they were able to raise close to 10 million dollars for the Bushfire charity fund. He said: “Worthwhile holiday Dadi…we were able to raise about $10M”
Tendulkar recently came out of retirement when he faced one over from champion all-rounder Elysse Perry during the innings break of the Bushfire ‘Big Appeal’ fixture between Ponting XI and Gilchrist XI. The Master Blaster may have retired six years ago but he once again displayed that “class is permanent’ when he unleashed his trademark leg-glance off the very first delivery.
Coming back to the game, Tendulkar ended up on the winning side in his capacity as a coach as Ponting XI pipped Gilchrist by one run in what was a highly entertaining high-scoring fixture.
