There have been a handful of close encounters in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. Teams have given it all in the league stages. While many of them failed to discover the winning formula, others carried on the winning momentum heading into the playoffs. We are done with the Qualifiers as well and now only two teams remain in the tournament Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad will fight the ultimate battle for the trophy on Sunday. One stand out performer from SRH is Rashid Khan.
Rashid has been one of the impact players of the IPL and of late he has been making it count with the bat as well. His four overs are priceless as the captain often turns to him in difficult situations and the leggie never disappoints. He is also a very good fielder outside the 30-yard circle. The Orange army was heading into the Qualifier 2 on the back of four defeats and needed someone to step up and deliver.
The youngster from Afghanistan is usually up their in the bowling charts but against KKR in the high-pressure game, he made a significant contribution with the bat to give his team final impetus towards a par total.
Match-defining innings
The leg-spinner provided the finish that SRH were looking for. He smashed 34 runs from 10 balls at the back end of the innings to propel the total to 173. While batting, Rashid pulled off an MS Dhoni-like whip off a york-ish ball, perhaps surprising himself how could a frontline leg-spinner nail a helicopter shot with such precision. The ball sailed for a six as it left Rashid’s bad.

A double blow from Kuldeep Yadav earlier in the game had put KKR in the driver’s seat. They were going well until Rashid piled misery on them and SRH carried the momentum at the half-way mark. The Knight Riders did not do much wrong when Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine came out to bat but failed to build up the innings and fell short by 13 runs in the end.
