KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty are in a relationship, confirms close friend

It seems romance is in the air for cricket and Bollywood as 2020 arrived. Hardik Pandya made his relationship with actress Natasa Stankovic public and started their new year by getting engaged to her in Dubai and shared the good news on social media as well. A similar romance in building up between India and Karnataka opener KL Rahul and actress Athiya Shetty as well.

Athiya, who is the daughter of veteran Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, has been seen in many social media posts alongside KL Rahul and recently, one of their posts went viral, in which Rahul recited a famous dialogue from Shetty’s hit movie from 2000 Heri Pheri. His caption sent the fans into a frenzy after he wrote, “Hello, Devi Prasad?”

Athiya, who made her debut on the silver screen with 2015’s Hero, was recently seen in Motichoor Chaknachoor with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Meanwhile, KL Rahul cemented his position as an opener in India’s limited-overs team in absence of Shikhar Dhawan with tremendous outings against the West Indies. The couple are yet to make anything official yet, but a close friend has spilled the beans on their love.

The friend revealed that Athiya and KL’s friendship has developed into a romance and is trying to spend time with each other given their professional lives are hectic as ever. “Akansha and Rahul are best friends. She didn’t set him up with Athiya. They have been friends for a long time. Both have a crazy sense of humour and most of their buddies had anticipated their friendship transforming into romance. The two have been dating for a few months now. Given their schedules, they try to spend as much time with each other as possible,” the friend said in a conversation with The Times of India.

A report in Bombay Times revealed that the Shetty clan of Suniel, wife Mana, and son Ahan are extremely fond of KL Rahul and Suniel even gave a hint about liking the person who Athiya is dating and said that he likes the person. Suniel even went on to state that they fit into their family like gloves.

“We love the kids and the kids they are dating. Absolutely love them and I think more than a profession, being happy in life is very important today because that is the space I think that is missing. We were all happy, we grew up happy,” Shetty was quoted as saying in an exclusive interview with The Times of India (TOI).
