'Bartheera, Beda Beda' - KL Rahul and Manish Pandey heard conversing in Kannada during the 3rd ODI

India lost the final ODI against New Zealand by five wickets at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. It also helped the hosts in winning the series by 3-0. It was not a good match for Virat Kohli and Co. as they suffered their third consecutive defeat. There were not so good moments for the visitors during the match. But, a conversation between Manish Pandey and KL Rahul in Kannada while batting together must have left a smile on some of the fans’ faces. India were asked to bat after losing the toss in the final ODI. They didn’t get off to a great start as they lost their in-form opener, Mayank Agarwal, and skipper Virat Kohli quite early in the game. Prithvi Shaw, the right-hander started scoring well from the beginning but failed to convert his inning into a big knock. He was run out after scoring 40 runs which included three boundaries and two sixes. Later on, Shreyas Iyer (62) and KL Rahul (112) stitched an amazing partnership of 100 runs for the 4th wicket. However, the dangerous-looking partnership was broken by James Neesham. Manish Pandey and KL Rahul revive India’s innings speaking in Kannada Manish Pandey, who was playing his first game in the ODI series, came out to bat alongside his Karnataka teammate KL Rahul. The duo in an attempt to rescue their team started building up a good partnership. It was amazing to watch both the Karnatak players co-ordinating well while running between the wickets. During the partnership, they were heard talking in Kannada and their calling got recorded in the stump mic. They used words like “Bartheera” (will you come), Odi Odi Ba (come running), Beda Beda (no-no) and Ba Ba (come). Pandey (42) and Rahul (112) did a partnership of 107 runs for the fifth wicket that helped Team India in posting a competitive score of 297 runs in stipulated 50 overs. But, that was not enough as the hosts’ batter chased down the target 17 balls to spare. Martin Guptill (80) and Henry Nicholls (80) certainly helped their team in winning the final ODI.
