And, ahead of the mega auctions, reports have come out that KL Rahul of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rashid Khan of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been approached to quit their respective franchises.
A BCCI official confirmed that a verbal complaint has been received from 2 franchises about players being approached by the newly added Lucknow franchise. The official also added that proper action will be taken if this is found to be true.
“We haven’t received any letter but we have received a verbal complaint from two franchises about players poaching by Lucknow team. We are looking into it, and we will take appropriate action if it proves to be true,” said a BCCI official according to Inside Sport.
You cannot avoid such things: BCCI official
The BCCI official also added that the existing balance of the teams should not be disturbed. Adding that it is difficult to avoid these kinds of approaches especially when there is fierce competition, the official concluded by stating that it is not fair to the existing teams when players are approached in this manner.
“We don’t want to disturb the balance. You cannot avoid such things when there is fierce competition. But it’s not fair to the existing teams when they are trying to balance everything,” concluded the BCCI official.
Rashid Khan had already informed SRH that he wants to be the first player to be retained by the franchise, or else he might leave. KL Rahul and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) are also reportedly in talks about the right-handed batter quitting the franchise and moving on.
