KL Rahul is now on the record books as he managed to score 600+ runs in four different IPL seasons. In this year’s IPL, he scored 616 runs in 15 innings at an average of 51.33. These runs have come at a strike rate of 135.38. Four 50+ scores along with two Hundred are included in his bag. He led his team from the front by guiding Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) into the eliminator in their maiden IPL season.

LSG skipper’s dream of winning the IPL Trophy washed away in one second when they got defeated by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in the eliminator by 14 runs. Chasing 208 runs in this high tense game, KL produced solid innings of 79 runs off 58 balls only. But, his efforts went in vain as LSG failed to cross the final line. His highest score of 103* runs off 60 balls came against Mumbai Indians this year.

KL Rahul’s brilliant IPL stats over the years

After this innings, the Indian batter became the first batter to score 600+ runs in four different seasons in the history of IPL. Along with this season, the 30-year-old batter scored 626 runs in 13 matches of the 2021 season, 670 runs in 14 matches of the 2020 season, and 659 runs in the 2018 season. He fell seven runs short of the 600 mark in the 2019 season by scoring 593 runs.

All these runs show that the Karnataka batter is the most consistent batter in recent times in the IPL while he managed to win the Orange Cup only once in the 2020 season. The tournament was played in the United Arab Emirates that year. Before Rahul, two IPL greats Chris Gayle and David Warner were on the top of the list as they crossed the 600 run mark three times in this tournament already. Now, KL Rahul has pushed them to the second spot by securing the top spot by crossing that mark four times. This year, he remained in the second spot in the race for Orange Cap behind Rajasthan’s Jos Buttler (718 runs).
