Team India’s first Test under new head coach Ravi Shastri starts on 26th July when the men in blue engage themselves in a battle against the Sri Lankans away from home. The series marks the return of Indian opener KL Rahul who took a break from cricket after the end of India’s 13 match home series to undergo surgery.
The surgery also saw the batsman miss out on the iconic 10th edition of the Indian Premier League. Not only the IPL, but the promising talent had to watch the all important ICC champions Trophy also from the sidelines. But the batsman is back in the reckoning once again and is a part of the team travelling to the island nation to battle it out in a full fledged tour.
The main story:
However, the 25-year-old decided to give his comeback a new look by sporting a completely different hairstyle. The Mangalore born batsman chopped off his long hair and is now making the headlines with his new buzz cut. If you are thinking that’s that, you are completely mistaken. To add a little bit more spice to his look the buzz cut has been paired with criss cross lines.
Fellow cricketer, Hardik Pandya took to his official Twitter account posted a selfie with the man who is making a return and the pair look handsome in the white Indian tee-shirt. The picture also gives us a chance to see Rahul’s new haircut and has been captioned with “the brother-man is back with a bang off to Sri Lanka #INDvsSL @rahulkl”.
The team also has Rohit Sharma in the squad who also makes his way back after a brief injury break following India’s Champions Trophy loss against Pakistan. However, Murali Vijay could not make it into the squad, as the batsman is still recovering from a wrist surgery. Shikhar Dhawan has replaced Vijay in the squad and has the chance to prove his worth in the longest format of the game once again.
As the number one ranked Test side at the moment the Indians will head into the tournament as the clear favourites but underestimating the Lions on their home turf would be a foolish thing to do.
