KL Rahul takes Pat Cummins to the cleaners after an exchange of words
The contest between both created quite an energy in the middle.
India had a fantastic Day 3 at the Adelaide Oval. After a delayed start, the visitors managed to get a lead of 15 runs. The openers KL Rahul and Murali Vijay then followed it up with a slow but steady start for India. On the other hand for the home side, it was an irritating day as the Indian batsmen didn’t take any risks.
The Aussies also tried hurling verbal volleys. Since Rahul was the man under pressure, they decided to get under his skin. However, the 26-year-old wasn’t going to let it go with a response. After trying to attack Pat Cummins and failing in the attempt, the bowler had a word for him. Immediately, Rahul slashed one over the slips for a boundary.
Cummins wasn’t amused with the shot. The banter continued in the next over with KL Rahul at the non striker’s end. There was more action in the next over by the 25-year-old pacer. Rahul cleanly struck the first ball for a magnificent six. Cummins responded with a bouncer on the very next ball to startle the batsman.
Rahul dispatched the third ball again for a boundary through the covers and looked quite confident. Cummins again came back with a short ball as Rahul ducked. The contest created quite an energy in the middle. The crowds cheered, the commentators enjoyed narrating as the viewers witnessed the spectacle.
Here are the videos of their contest in the middle:
KL Rahul was eventually dismissed by Josh Hazlewood. Trying to go for another ambitious drive, he ended up nicking one to Tim Paine. It seemed like a waste of a wicket, especially after the way he was batting. Rahul hasn’t been going through a great phase and he had every chance to prove himself today.
India were comfortably placed at 151/3 at stumps on Day 3 with the lead 166 runs now.
