The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a witness to some riveting encounters. There have been superlative individual performances as well, some of whom are trying to stake their claim back into the national team. KL Rahul, Umesh Yadav and Ambati Rayudu have been consistent performers for their respective franchises.
The players might be rewarded for their stupendous shows. As per reports in Times Now, Rahul and Umesh are likely to get the nod for the upcoming ODI series against England. Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu, who has been a prolific run-scorer for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in this season, might also be selected for the T20 International series.
The jaw-dropping touch of Rahul, Umesh and Rayudu
Meanwhile, the selections won’t come as a surprise bearing in mind the kind of form they have shown. Rahul is currently the leading run scorer for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) who have had an impressive run thus far in the tournament. The Karnataka-born cricketer has previously been a part of the ODI team against Sri Lanka but was dropped due to lacklustre outings.
Umesh Yadav has been consistent in Tests, however, a berth in the limited overs team has always eluded him. Nevertheless, he has every chance of redeeming himself in coloured-clothing cricket, provided he is selected. The fast-bowler is currently playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for whom he has picked up consistent wickets.
India’s tour of England kicks off with a three-match T20I series at Manchester, Cardiff and Bristol respectively. Thereafter, the teams will be pitted against each other in a three-match ODI series at Nottingham, London and Leeds respectively. India’s campaign ends with five Tests for which the likes of Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara are sweating it out in County cricket.
