KL Rahul, Virat Kohli storm into top 10 in the latest ICC T20I batting rankings
Rohit Sharma has slipped to the ninth position.
India won the hard-fought three-match T20I series against the West Indies on Sundar. KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma pummelled the opposition bowlers at the Wankhede stadium to post a mammoth total of 240 runs. It was enough for the hosts to register a 67-run win with Rahul and Kohli winning the Man of the Match and Man of the Series awards respectively.
Both the batsmen were in amazing form in the series. While the Indian captain slammed 183 at an amazing strike-rate of 190.62, Rahul almost cemented his place as an opener amassing 164 runs at 153.27. The duo has benefitted in the latest ICC T20I rankings as well and has entered the top 10 list. Rahul has climbed to the sixth position trumping Evin Lewis who didn’t bat in the last T20I due to an injury.
Virat Kohli, on the other hand, is just one point below Rohit Sharma at the 10th place in the rankings. Rohit himself had a lean series apart from the Mumbai T20I and has slipped to the ninth position with 685 rating points to his name. Babar Azam continues to rule the roost in the rankings at the top. Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell are the two Australians in the top five.
Lean series for the bowlers
This series wasn’t a memorable one for the bowlers. Almost all of them went for runs even as Deepak Chahar continued to impress with his variations. He has now climbed to the 21st position in the bowlers T20I rankings while Kesrick Williams has also benefitted. Sheldon Cottrell, however, has come down to the 12th place while there is no Indian bowler in the top 10.
Rashid Khan is at the top of the bowling rankings with Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mitchell Santner, Imad Wasim and Adam Zampa following him in top five. There is not much change in the all-rounders’ rankings of the format with Mohammad Nabi leading the list with 319 rating points.
