India lost yet another away Test series against England. The team has particularly struggled when touring the United Kingdom and their performance in the fourth Test was just not up to the mark. They lost the game by 60 runs conceding England a lead of 3-1 in the five-match Test series. After this loss, the players are facing the wrath of the fans for their performances. KL Rahul definitely stands in the front line of this list after how he got out cheaply in both the innings.
Except for Virat Kohli, no other batsman has managed to deliver on a consistent basis. Despite the bowlers putting up their best possible efforts, the batsmen have succumbed. KL Rahul has been in some great form in the recent time was particularly disappointing with the bat. The 26-year-old, after putting up a decent show in the third Test was completely off the mark in Southampton.
It was Ishant Sharma’s birthday on Sunday and Rahul took to his official Twitter handle to wish the lanky fast bowler. But his timing of the wish was wrong. Soon after the loss, he wished his teammate and it was expected that he will have to face the backlash of the fans for his performances.
Here’s his tweet:
To the most Genuine, Humble and a Lovely human being.👑
The best kind of Senior you can get in a team, A Very Happy Birthday.🍾🎂
Many more son.🤗 @ImIshant pic.twitter.com/kBpzUyEoJH— K L Rahul (@klrahul11) September 2, 2018
No fifty in the last 13 innings outside the subcontinent
Quite a few flaws of the right-hander were exposed in the fourth Test of the series. He had particularly struggled against the incoming deliveries. Rahul, who took an early stride towards the off-stump to counter the away going deliveries was completely off balance when the ball came in sharply. His stride forward hasn’t allowed him to defend the incoming deliveries as his pad came in the way. We have seen a similar flaw with Rohit Sharma in South Africa earlier this year.
KL Rahul only scored 113 runs in this series at an average just above 14. Furthermore, in his last 13 innings outside the Indian subcontinent, he hasn’t reached a half-century even once.
The fans were extremely disappointed with his performances and bashed him left, right and centre on the micro-blogging site Twitter. Twitterati felt that KL Rahul spends more time on social media than at the crease. They felt that Prithvi Shaw would be an ideal replacement for him in the fifth Test. Some advised him to look for a career in modelling.
Here is how they reacted:

There was a lot of expectations from you KL, but you disappointed us.
Now, Prithvi Shaw is the obvious choice for the 5th Test… pic.twitter.com/5Qgm74OGGw

Just half an hour after a series loss and our opening batsmen who has let down his team time and again but not giving a good start is tweeting on twitter. Just shows how much it really means to this new generation IPL breed. @BoriaMajumdar @bhogleharsha @sanjaymanjrekar
