KL Rahul's return to form biggest positive for India: Ashish Nehra
Rahul looked assured during his 36-ball 50-run knock.
India lost the thrilling game against Australia in Vizag on Sunday. The fact that the game went till the last ball was an achievement in itself for the hosts as they looked dead and buried a number of times during the match. The series can’t be won now and the Men in Blue will be looking to draw the two-match series in Bengaluru on Wednesday. However, despite the loss, the former Indian cricketer Ashish Nehra isn’t worried much.
He pointed out how India’s biggest worry from the last few months, KL Rahul returned to the form in the game. Rahul was given a chance, probably for the last time before the World Cup, by resting Shikhar Dhawan and he slammed a brilliant half-century much to the delight of the crowd. Though Nehra felt that Rahul himself would be disappointed as he should’ve got the big score after being set.
“Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri rested Shikhar Dhawan hoping KL Rahul to come good. That is what exactly KL Rahul did. It was a good half-century. Definitely, KL Rahul would have disappointed at that time because India needed him to carry on and cross 150 runs on the board,” he said while speaking to CricketNext.
For me, his form was the positive
Ashish Nehra was delighted to see KL Rahul batting superbly on a pitch which turned out to be tough to score runs. He also added that even Rahul, who looks certain to go to England now as a backup opener, would be satisfied and will be looking to be consistent now.
“But, the way his form in the recent months, he would take that. For me, It was the most positive point for me in this game. Because, it was a low-scoring game, in which, batsman found it tough to get their runs on the board,” Nehra further said.
