Former India skipper Kapil Dev has spent almost the entire week heaping tons of praises on incumbent Indian skipper Virat Kohli after analyzing the latter’s aggressive approach to captaincy. Kohli is currently impressing one and all with some impressive on-field decisions that are heavily affecting the results of the ongoing Test series against the West Indies. Having claimed a win in the first Test match of the four-match series in Antigua, Kohli, and his men seem to be on the road to yet another win in the second Test at Sabina Park in spite of the thunderstorms and the rain.

Kapil Dev, however, stated that it was important to bestow more captaincy responsibility on 27-year old Virat Kohli stating that it would take 5-10 series to judge the captaincy instincts of Kohli.

“Virat Kohli has to be given more chances to captain the team then only we will know about his capabilities. We can’t judge his capabilities in just one series,” Kapil told reporters. “We can never judge a player by just one Indian Premier League [IPL] or just one Test series… let them play 5-10 series, then only we can judge a player and think about it,” he added.

“The youngsters have bridged the gap with the previous generation. Players like Kohli and Ashwin have taken the extra responsibilities on their shoulders,” the legendary cricketer said.

Sourav Ganguly, a former Indian Test skipper also underlined Kohli’s credentials as skipper of India. On Test captain Kohli, Ganguly said, “He is a great player and will serve the Indian cricket for a long time. He will become the world’s all-time great player,” reports PTI.
