Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been a class act both on the field and off it. He found an admirer in Pakistan’s pacer Mohammad Amir, who had said that it is a challenge to bowl to Kohli. The duo shares an amazing rapport. During last years Asia Cup, Kohli gifted a bat to Amir, the gesture was appreciated and applauded by cricket lovers from around the world.
Former Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar has also praised the Indian skipper after he went to the Pakistan dressing room to congratulate the champions after their Champions Trophy triumph.Akhtar lauded the example set by the skipper after India lost the finals to their arch-rivals.
“Hats off to Kohli who went to the Pakistan dressing room after the Champions Trophy final and congratulated our players. He spoke very highly of the Pakistan team. You know he is not only a great cricketer, he is a great ambassador for India as well,” said Akhtar, quoted Khaleej Times.
Only Virat Kohli can break Sachin’s record: Akhtar
Kohli, who scored his 50th international hundred in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, received much more praise by Akhtar as he said that no one comes close to Kohli while chasing. “Virat Kohli is a modern-day great. When it comes to run chases, no one has ever shown better understanding of pacing an innings. Yes he has 50 international centuries now. I think he is the only player who can break Tendulkar’s record,” Akhtar said.
“If Misbah-ul-Haq can play until 43, I am sure Virat can play until he is 44. If he plays that long and if he continues to score the way he is doing now, I have no doubt that he is the only one who can do it. In fact, he can hit 120 centuries,” he added.
