Kolkata beats the heat to witness IPL, Baahubali 2
But in the end, it was a happy day for the fans as the Kolkata Knight Riders successfully chased down the target of 161 set up by the Delhi Daredevils.
Kolkata has been burning with heat for the past few days but the craze for cricket and entertainment has not gone down a bit. On Friday, the maximum temperature was as high as 37.2 degrees Celcius but the day also saw the encounter between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Delhi Daredevils.
Even in such scorching heat people came in numbers to witness the entertaining clash between the two sides. This clearly portrays the love the city has for the lovely game of cricket and the craze among the fans to witness each game live at the Eden Gardens. People were seen shielding themselves with caps, hats, and sunscreens with the soft drinks being a much-needed weapon to get some relief from the heat.
Kolkata usually has busy streets but most preferred to remain indoors as the heat was a bit too much to accept. The main mode of transportation was metro and air condition buses as people tried to do away with the temperature.
But in the end, it was a happy day for the fans as the Kolkata Knight Riders successfully chased down the target of 161 set up by the Delhi Daredevils. There were more reasons to rejoice as skipper Gautam Gambhir’s magnificent form with the bat continued as he remained unbeaten at the crease at a score of 71 from just 52 balls.
The city also welcomed the release of S.S Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali 2 in the theatres. Many took a leave from work to catch the first day first show of the film after the first part was a big hit among the fans. Among the audiences, there were an excited bunch of moviegoers from Bangladesh.
A moviegoer quoted “This is the perfect way to beat the heat. We have been waiting for this movie for two years and its worth the wait”
