KPL 2016, Match 28 Review: Hubli Tigers maul Rockstars
Hubli Tigers were too strong for Rockstars in the final match of the league phase. The Tigers needed to win this match to climb to the second position and they did it emphatically in the fifth editon of Karnataka Premier League T20 tournament at the KSCA Stadium in Rajnagar on Friday night.
The 85- run win earned them a clash against Belagavi Panthers in the first semifinal to be played on Saturday afternoon. In the second semifinal of the day Mysuru Warriors will battle it out with Bellary Tuskers.
Rockstars set a target of 185 in 18 overs were never up to the task and although opener Vihaan Rajeev (31; 16b, 3×6, 2×4)) struck a few lusty blows they fell way short of the target.
Earlier, put into bat in the rain-restricted match, opener Mohammed Taha (59; 36b, 2×6, 8×4) flayed the attack with some stinging strokes all round the wicket. His second wicket partnership of 72 in 42 balls with skipper Kunal Kapoor (27) put Tigers on the road to a huge total. Taha was named the man of the match for his fine innings. Later, Kranthi Kumar (33 n.o; 12b, 2×6, 3×4) stepped on the gas to cash in on the stand.
