India suffered a heart-wrenching defeat against arch-rivals Pakistan two weeks ago in the finals of the Champions Trophy. The Indian women’s team were pitted against Pakistan last night and emerged victorious for a straight tenth time against their rivals. The game was watched popularly across fans in India and most people were delighted to get the revenge of The Oval bashing.

KRK hails India

India managed to put just 169 on the board but the bowlers proved that it was more than enough as they skittled out Pakistan for a mere 74 runs, winning the game by 95 runs. Ekta Bisht was the star of the show picking 5/18 in a mesmerising spell of left-arm spin bowling. Controversial actor KRK was delighted with the effort of the Indian girls and posted a tweet for the same.

Once India took the last Pakistan wicket, the focus shifted to the men’s team who were facing a lowly West Indies. The bowlers did a great job by restricting the home side for 189 for 9 in 50 overs. New ball bowlers Joseph and Holder tightened the screws by picking two quick wickets with the new ball which prompted India to move at a snail’s pace. Dhoni and Rahane’s fourth wicket stand of 54 needed 109 balls but India were still comfortably placed as the asking run rate was still below 5 runs an over.

And lashed at Kohli’s men

But due to some irresponsible batting by the lower middle order couple with Dhoni trying to take it too deep, India eventually lost the game by 11 runs despite batting all but 2 balls of their allotted 50 overs. There was huge disappointment amongst Indian fans as it was a game they had it in their pockets after bowling so well. One such fan was KRK, who alleged the entire team of dubious charges and requested people to watch women’s cricket only.

It was a game that India should have won in a canter but wickets tumbling early forced Dhoni to adopt a fail-safe strategy. He did well to take India close and perhaps, with a bit more support from Pandya or Jadeja; he would have taken India home.
