Former Rising Pune Supergiant skipper MS Dhoni’s form in the ongoing Indian Premier League continues to be criticised for his string of poor performances in the league stages of the tournament. After Harsh Goenka and Sourav Ganguly, it is Bollywood’s controversial critic Kamal Rashid Khan, who has joined the criticism bandwagon.
The former India captain, who guided India to the 2007 World Cup, 2011 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy is going through one of the toughest phase of his illustrious cricket career this IPL. Just a few days before the tournament commenced, he was surprisingly replaced as the captain of the Supergiant team by Australia skipper Steve Smith.
Given that Dhoni, the only captain to win 3 ICC trophies, 2 IPL trophies and one Champions League T20 title as well had to be replaced seemed like a very harsh decision. However, speaking practically, the wicketkeeper batsman’s performances with the willow in the ongoing edition of the Indian domestic T20 league is only justifying the decision made by the Pune franchise owners.
After managing only 61 runs in his first five outings this season, he roared back to form with a match-winning knock of 61 runs off 34 deliveries. But, he failed to continue the form thereafter, scoring 7, 23, 21* and 26 in the next four matches.
Meanwhile, this gave Kamal Rashid Khan a chance to take a dig at Dhoni before Rising Pune Supergiant’s match against Kolkata Knight Rider at the Eden Gardens earlier this week.
Urging Dhoni to perform well in the city of his in-laws, KRK tweeted: “Bhai @msdhoni Aaj Toh Sasural Main Khel Raha hai, Izzat Rakh Lena! #KKRvRPS #IPL2017”

In case you don’t know, Dhoni wife, Sakshi Dhoni is from Kolkata.
Unfortunately, Dhoni could not give it back to KRK as he managed only 5 runs from 9 deliveries. However, that did not prove costly for the RPS as his team, riding on Rahul Tripathi’s blistering 93-run knock to beat Knight Riders by 4 wickets.
