Krunal Pandya deceives Glenn Maxwell with an absolute peach
Krunal knew the significance of the prized scalp.
In the opening T20I at the Gabba in Brisbane, Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya didn’t have the best of outings with the leather in hand. He conceded 55 runs in his four overs and didn’t get any wicket. It also turned out to be his most expensive spell of bowling in the four matches he has played thus far. Aussie batsman Glenn Maxwell, who scored 49 runs, was severe on the left-arm spinner.
The Victorian laid into the Baroda cricketer and smashed quite a few sixes of his bowling. The onslaught helped the home team rack up a significant score and the Aussies eventually won by four runs (DLS Method). The second T20I is currently underway at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground and Krunal has made amends as he picked up one wicket, conceding 26 runs in his quota of four overs.
Krunal foxes Maxwell
Moreover, the elder of the Pandya’s also had the chance of bowling to Maxwell. This time around, the tweaker didn’t flatter to deceive and got the better of the swashbuckling batsman. He dismissed Maxwell in the last ball of his second over with the score at 62 for the loss of four wickets in 10.5 overs. The spinner bowled from around the wicket and the leather pitched on and around the middle stump.
Maxwell tried to make a forward push and stave the delivery off without taking any undue risk. Krunal gave the ball a fair amount of flight and the cherry gripped the surface and spun past Maxwell’s bat to clatter into the stumps. Quite expectantly, the batsman was left bemused by the absolute peach from Pandya. He stood at the pitch and then steadily made his way back to the dugout.
Krunal was cock-a-hoop as he knew the significance of the prized scalp. It was more for the reason that he was able to get rid of a batsman, who took him to the cleaners last time around. Maxwell had a difficult time in the middle as he could only score 19 runs from 22 balls with the help of one boundary. In the meantime, Australia lost half their side with not much on the board.
